05/25 3. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

My report as Chair of Bridstow Parish Council – well what can I say, another year has gone by!

Our bi-monthly meetings have involved the normal discussions including those about planning applications, highways maintenance, traffic issues, our Lengthsman Scheme annual maintenance plan, the PROW and drainage grant work, the parish council finances and budget – and the increase of our parish precept from £12,500 to £14,000 for 2026/27.

I would like to thank all of the Parish Councillors for their contribution and support during the year – Pam Brown for supporting me as Vice-Chair and Village Hall representative – and for also dealing with the PROW and drainage grant applications, Peter Brown for his commitment and dedication as Footpath Officer to maintaining and improving our footpaths, Simon Brewer as Emergency Co-ordinator and for organising the Remembrance Day Service in November, George Barrett for his contribution and comments about the Herefordshire Council planning consultation process, Glyn Price for his interest and support in maintaining our communal areas, and Michelle Palmer and Mike Scott for their support and interest in dealing with highways and drainage matters.

Thanks also go to our Ward Councillor, Elissa Swinglehurst, for providing her support and updates from Herefordshire Council – and of course, Terry Griffiths, who continues to act as our Lengthsman and performs essential work in the parish.

And finally, I would like to thank Alison our Parish Clerk who has now been with us for nearly four years – I thank her for all her hard work and support.
